Mostly fueled by the ongoing changing shopper behavior, over the past years we have analyzed a vast series of developments of retail concepts and changing approaches of how retailers attract and communicate with their customers. In light of the contemporary retail scenario, several of these parameters are shifting and one factor becomes clearer; Innovation is key for today´s successful retailers that keep inventing and sometimes even reinventing their concepts and business models.
Some highlights of the trends presented in Retail Innovations 7:
- A new central theme in this issue is Business model innovations, with strategic partnership as key aspect.
- Retail innovation and new concepts is the second central theme. Next to trends presented in Retail Innovations 6 such as "I trust you", "Liquid-retailing" and "Social-tailing" Ebeltoft Group identified new trends:
- Storytelling; an emerging approach that can help retailers to build success through connecting with their shoppers via in-store story-telling of e.g. the retailer´s vision, mission or products.
- High quality low snobbery; where customers are being encouraged to appreciate the qualities of products in an informal and welcoming setting.
- Multi-sensory; involving the customer´s senses more than usually perceived. Multi-sensory concepts are able to attract more, facilitate a more relaxed experience, let the customer interact more with the offers, and as a result stimulate the shopper to spend more time and money.
The retail cases presented in Retail Innovations 7 come from a variety of countries; Brazil, China, France, Germany, Great Britten, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and USA. Some cases are Carrefour, Imaginarium, Ritter Sport and Craftsman.
